Laurent Chabbal’s Career as a Professional Investor

Introduction

I began my career in 1999, in Toulouse (France) as an engineer in industrial and electronic informatics. Since then, I have worked in the technology sector on projects related to digital marketing, information technology, and new technologies.

My Work In Technical Development

During the beginning of my career, between 1999 and 2007, I worked as a software developer and in website creation, campaign management, and internet-marketing. As a consultant, I have worked for multiple prestigious companies in the technology sector in Toulouse: Airbus, Thales Alenia Space, Motorola, Continental. During this period, I have become an expert both in programming and managing digital marketing campaigns.

Project Management and Expatriation

Between 2007 and 2012, I transitioned into project management, in the same business environment as before. So, after 5 years managing projects, I decided to go one step further and start an international career with a more strategic and commercial approach. To pursue this, I moved to Madrid to earn an International MBA at IE Business School (previously “Instituto de Empresa”).

My Work in Start-Up and Freelance Consulting

Between 2012 and 2017, after graduating with my MBA, I co-founded a Tech startup called “Never Empty”. The objective of this mobile app (available on Android and iOS) was to help football clubs sell their unsold seats through and auction platform. The challenge was to help the League clubs fill their stadiums. The Never Empty App has been quite successful, especially between 2014-2015. We have worked with prestigious clubs such as Atlético Madrid, Sevilla FC, and Malaga Football Club. During this period, I served the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and performed marketing-related tasks: digital marketing campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), online advertising on our website and Apps (banners), radio interviews, conferences and business fairs. I also accumulated the roles of investor and shareholder of the company.
